Description
This fig jam, made with the “Pingo de Mel” variety produced in the Trás-os-Montes region of Portugal, is a sweet, flavorful fruit with a firm pulp, combined with oranges from the Algarve region, a fruit both sweet and acidic, and finished with cinnamon, a spice whose trade monopoly was controlled by the Portuguese for 200 years, originally from Sri Lanka.
Ideal for pairing with cheeses such as Serra da Estrela Cheese (PDO), “Brie de Meaux”, “Brie de Melun” (PDO), “Gorgonzola” (PDO), and “Leyden” Cheese (PGI).
Also perfect to accompany foie gras, ricotta cheesecake, and desserts.

Origin of the Ingredients
Depending on the season of production, figs are called lampos (May and June) and vintage (July/September) . It is a fruit with well-marked organoleptic characteristics, with great nutritional qualities, being rich in vitamins B and C and mineral salts (especially calcium, phosphorus and potassium).
Cinnamon has a warm, pleasantly sweet yet intense aroma. Its flavor is warm and fragrant, reminiscent of cloves and citrus. It presents a light brown color, with touches of bronze. For 200 years, the Portuguese controlled the monopoly on the commercialization of this spice, originally from Sri Lanka.
